Construction at Sideshore is progressing swiftly as internal mechanical and electrical works begin in the restaurant, changing area and plant room. Underfloor heating is being installed and floors screeded throughout. The external roof coverings and insulation are close to completion and the solar panel installation is due to commence over the next couple of weeks to provide the building with renewable energy.

The retail pods are under construction with the roof trusses currently being installed and roof coverings to follow. On the external walls the beautiful and locally sourced Yennadon stone is near completion. The walls are also having timber support battens and vapour barrier installed in readiness for the Western Red Cedar cladding at the front of the building.

In the ground, the main drainage infrastructure is complete with the ground source heat pump boreholes drilled and cables in place. The ground source heat pump will provide sustainable heating and hot running water to the building  year-round.

Over the next 4-5 weeks the internal mechanical and electrical works in the buildings will commence. The timber cladding, roof finishes and trims will then be installed.

It’s exciting to see the vision for Sideshore come together as local Devon Contractors and Grenadier work hard to create a building for the community to enjoy.
