The weekend of the 29th/30th September saw the 8th annual Edge Race Cup, sponsored by Grenadier, take place in Exmouth, Devon. Over 30 riders registered for the event with some of the top ranked riders in the world competing.

Now an Olympic sport for 2024, Kitesurfing is attracting great interest around the world. Sport UK, in association with the British Sailing Team and British Kitesurfing Association have started a new talent programme to introduce more young Female kite surfers to the sport. This programme would enable youngsters to prove they have the right mind and skill set, talent and commitment to go all the way to bring the first kitesurfing gold medal back to GB waters. The Edge Race Cup 2018 was the first weekend that the programme was in place and 15 members of the new team were put through their paces either learning to hydrofoil or learning to race for the first time.

Peter Quincey, Director of Grenadier, said: “We were keen to sponsor the annual Edge Race Cup as it highlights the breadth of talent in Exmouth and the wider Devon area. The Edge Race Cup is an excellent opportunity to promote keeping fit and having more time to enjoy outdoor activities. Edge is a great advocate for encouraging the local community and in this case top riders, to come together to try a new and exciting sport.”
